Leave Your Mark!

This section is for anyone that wants to say hi and tell me what they think of this site. However, after the flamer attack back in 2001, I have put up some precautionary measures to make sure everyone gets a fair shake in this Guest Book. The guest book is moderated, meaning that I must approve an entry before it appears in the guest book. If you think that me having such control over the guestbook is a bit egotistical, trust me, I tried the other way and look what happened. The following rules came about because, well, that's pretty much what went on in my guestbook.

  1. No more than one entry per person. Subsequent messages by the same person will be deleted. While the main purpose of this rule is to head of flame attacks, it also pretty much eliminates #2.

  2. This guestbook is not a means of communication. That's what email is for. If the location you're at blocks HotMail or other e-mail services, perhaps you shouldn't be using that place's internet services to browse my site in the first place. Entries that attempt to carry on a conversation with me or anyone else will be deleted.

  3. This is not a forum to promote your site, your views, or whatever. That's what seach engines, newsgroups, and public forums are for. Now, by it's very nature, asking for a URL to your homepage is an opportunity for promoting your site, but this is only a show of gratitude for sharing your thoughts about my site. This is not an opportunity for you to get on a soapbox. It may seem that I'm being a bit self-centered, but I honestly had people using this guestbook to do just that. Not even an "I like your site, Simion," or "I hate your site, Simion." Some entried just went off and used my guest book as if it were a search engine. Entries that do this will be deleted.

  4. This is not a forum to rant and rave about me or anyone else. I know #3 pretty much covers this, but this puts a nail in the coffin for those that run off to as many guestbooks as they can to slander someone else, which I found myself a victim of on other guestbooks thanks to the flamer of 2001. As much as I don't like entries that rip myself a new asshole, I don't want my guestbook to become a place where other people get the same treatment. Besides, it makes the whole site look bad if I were to allow it to continue.

  5. I reserve the right to edit entries, much like how magazines reserve the right to edit your comments on their publication should they choose to use your submission. This is more so that my spell checkers and link checkers quit bothering me about guest book entries, but I also want my entries to be readable and not an embarassment to the poster themselves. It also allows me to salvage some entries that had the courtesy to at least mention their thoughts on the site, but then they turned around and broke one of the aforementioned rules. As sole editor, I take responsibility to make sure that your post retains it's orginal intentions. If you can't trust me to do so, then why are you signing my guestbook?
